Mr. Darren Lotow, 42, of Hawthorne passed away at Shands UF on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from injuries he sustained in a fireworks accident. He was born in Miami on October 17, 1973 to the late Norman and Glenda (Brown) Lotow. Darren graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School and attended the University of North Dakota and Keiser University. He was a savvy businessman, serving as the Chief Operating Officer for Advantage Wellness Services and United Therapy Group, companies that he started. Darren was also an active member of many organizations, including Keystone United Methodist Church, the Gainesville Country Club, the Gainesville Quarterback Club, the America Academy of Homecare Medicine, and the Boy Scouts of America-Troop 146. His love for the ocean was obvious, as he spent a lot of his time boating, fishing, lobstering, spearfishing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Being a jack-of-all-trades, Darren also enjoyed camping, doing home repairs and remodeling, construction, gardening, golfing, hunting, baking, and cooking. But what Darren loved most was spending time with his family, whether it was just hanging out at the farm or on to a new adventure. Jason Lotow (brother) also preceded him in death. Darren is survived by his beautiful bride of twelve years, Cathy (Llanes) and their two beautiful children, Noah and Isabella "Izzy" all of Hawthorne; one nephew; Jarret Lotow of Miami; maternal grandmother, Winnifred Brown of Fargo, ND; his father- and mother-in- law, Ricky and Dolly Llanes of Jacksonville; a sister-in-law, Lisa Llanes of Brooklyn, NY, and the family dog, Coco. Also left behind is Darrens aunt, Claudia Brown Anderson (Dale) of Fargo, ND and two uncles, Grant Brown (Linda) of Dunn Center, ND and Douglas Brown (Carol) of Larimore, ND along with several cousins in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana. A memorial service honoring Darren will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Keystone United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, Darrens family would greatly appreciate donations made to: Boy Scouts Troop 146, 4004 South SR 21, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
