David Daniel Baker

David D. Baker, 78, was called home to his Lord after a brief illness. He is now with his wife, his mother, and other family members. He was born November 13, 1938 in Jacksonville, FL and lived a full life. He passed away May 14, 2017 with his daughter Dana and grandson Christopher by his side. He worked for Pepsi for 38 years as a mechanic before retiring. David served proudly in the Coast Guard and Reserves for 10 years.He loved the water, fishing, hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed his birds, his chickens, riding his bike 5 days a week, and building grills. He had a true love for two dogs, Sadie and Bailey. He enjoyed dirt track racing and working on his old Ford truck. He was always willing to lend a hand and help people using his God-given talent to fix things. His true love was spending time with family and friends, with great food and a cold beer.He was a devoted father and grandfather, brother and uncle. David was simple in life and enjoyed every moment he lived.David was preceded in death by his wife Linda Joyce Baker, his mother Thelma Lee Baker, and his son-in-law Dennis C. SkaffHe is survived by his daughters Dana Skaff & Rhoda Copley; his grandchildren Christopher Skaff, Justin Copley and Corey Copley; his extended Baker and Skaff families; and because he never knew a stranger, countless friends.Visitation will be held on Friday May 19th, 2017 at 1:30, with funeral services starting at 2:30 at the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
