David Bradley Smith, Jr. age 76 went home to be with his Lord and Savior January 30,2022. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Martha Panaway Smith, one son David Andrew (Andy) Smith and his wife Penny, grandson Jacob Clouthier and great grandson Gage Clouthier. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Iduma Smith, and one brother Harvey Smith. David loved people, hunting, fishing and growing vegetables to share. He was happiest when he was on his tractor. He loved mentoring students and spending time with his family. His first love was the Lord, Jesus Christ. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Starke since 1981. He served the Lord faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, Nursery worker, Department Director, Deacon and as the Church Moderator.He was a career educator. He taught vocational agriculture for many years. He served as the Director of the Bradford-Union Area Vocational Technical Center (now North Florida College), and as County Vocational Director for Flagler, Nassau, and Bradford County. He also served four years as a member of the Bradford County School Board. For the last three and a half years declining health forced him to live in a nursing home, first at Windsor Health and Rehab, then at Signature Health Care of Middleburg since July. We are grateful and appreciative for the staff of medical professionals who have taken care of him.A celebration of his life will be held on February 4 at First Baptist Church of Starke at 11:00 with Pastor Chuck Register conducting his service. No visitation before, but the family will receive visitors after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church.
