David John Marfinetz Sr. "Marf", 65, of Jacksonville, Florida went home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on January 26, 2024 peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born on September 14, 1958 to John and Eva Marfinetz in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating from Andrew Jackson High School in 1977, he began a long career in the roofing industry. Throughout his career, he made a positive impact on the lives of many. He mentored countless individuals, helping them achieve goals and reach their full potential. His dedication to his work and his commitment to excellence set him apart as a true leader in the field. In 1997, he made the most important decision of his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior which was the beginning of an ever growing relationship with his eternal Father in heaven. After retiring in 2014, he began his dream job and true calling in life of being a Professional Pop-Pop. He lived all the days following retirement enjoying every aspect of his grandchildren's lives which brought him great joy. Throughout his life, he cherished his family above all else. He had a passion for cooking, gardening, fishing, hunting, collecting Lionel trains, slot car racing, artwork with his grandkids, playing the lottery, enjoying his chickens, and traveling as much as possible. He is survived by his children Debra (Randy) Greene, David (Liz) Marfinetz Jr., five grandchildren, Rachel, Trent, Aiden, Luke, and Cole, sisters Susan (Stan) Sutherland, and Eva L. Marfinetz and Deborah A. Marfinetz, wife of 29 years with whom he gained a daughter Julie Theophile. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Eva Marfinetz. A graveside service for Mr. David John Marfinetz, Sr. will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:30PM in Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206.
