David W. Newsom of Gainesville died Tuesday, February 23rd in Gainesville.He was 58.Born in Glendale, CA, Mr. Newsom and his family moved to Gainesville, FL from Sunland, CA 48 years ago. He was owner of Newsom Bros. Construction for over 10 years, then created Newsom Sitework Corp. as well as owner of the 53rd Street Storage Warehouses until his early retirement due to the start of his medical issues.In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and took pride in his awards. He was a self taught heavy duty diesel mechanic that never found a problem he could not fix. He is preceded in death by his father John F. Newsom and his older brother Timothy James Newsom.He is survived by his beloved mom Catherine E. Colamonico and his beautiful, loving wife Karen T. Newsom (Baby), his children, Daniel W. Newsom, Crissy Hill (Mike), Joey Carollo (Nicki) and his 6 loving grandchildren, his sisters, Kathleen Forkey, Marge Felix (Loring), and Clara Hamilton his brothers, Michael Newsom (Jenny), John Newsom (Carol),Charlie Newsom (Sue), Patrick Newsom (Donna), Chris Newsom (Lisa) and 15 loving nieces and nephews.He also leaves behind many extended family members and loving friends.The family will receive friends Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 29 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church with interment to follow at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central.In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his name to Absolute Center 3658 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, CA 94549 on behalf of his dear niece Rebecca Forkey whom suffered a severe spinal cord injury.Arrangements are by Forest Meadows Funeral Home (352) 378-2528.
