Funeral services for David Michael Sweat, 82, will be held at 12:00p.m. Thursday, October 8th, in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, with Mission Pastor Paul Sweat of Hibernia Baptist Church and Mike Hammontree officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30p.m. in Jacksonville National Cemetery.Born February 25, 1938 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Mary and John Sweat, Sr., Mr. Sweat died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in Jacksonville. He served in the United States Navy, was a former member of Southside Assembly of God and was a retired elevator serviceman.Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Elise Lee Barrington Sweat of Jacksonville; a daughter, Cindy Lou (Dale) Courtney of Jacksonville; two step-daughters, Karen Renee (Brad) Farmer of Macclenny, FL and Kimberly Tuenge of Jacksonville; a son, Paul (Olivia) Sweat of Fleming Island, FL; three step-sons, Timothy (Carol) Barrington of Macclenny, FL, Darrell Barrington of Jacksonville, and Christopher (Amanda) Barrington of Fernandina Beach, FL; a sister, Polly Tyre of Lake City, FL; and many Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00a.m. until 9:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 7th and the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care..Funeral ServiceChapel of George H.
