David C Zimmerman

Dr. David Carlisle Zimmerman, age 88, of Keystone Heights, FL passed away in Gainesville on August 4, 2020. Dr. Zimmerman was born to the late Carl and Katherine (Miller) Zimmerman in Loudonville, OH on February 19, 1932. Following high school, he attended the Ohio State University where he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. David also played the baritone in the OSU marching band. After Dental School, he became a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army, and he served in Germany from 1957-1959. David was a talented musician and singing in various choirs was one of his favorite pastimes. In 1968, David came to know his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which had a positive impact on everyone he met. After retiring in 1987, he and his beloved wife, Mary, moved to Keystone Heights. While living in Keystone, he enjoyed working at Ace Hardware in Melrose, Lake Swan Camp, and the Park of the Palms. Additionally, David was a master gardener and an expert landscaper. David was a resident of Park of the Palms and a member of the Park of the Palms Chapel. He will be remembered for being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His siblings called him Davey and he was known to the community as Doc and Mr. Dave. He was loved by so many! Dave will be missed but never forgotten.He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lewis, Eileen, and Julia. Survivors include, his wife, Mary L. (Kaiser) Zimmerman; children, Stephen Potts (Karen), Matthew Zimmerman, Lisa Rund (Nathan), and Heidi Thornhill (Randy); siblings, Carolyne, Mildred, and Kenneth (Stephanie). He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and faithfully prayed for them.Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Keystone Heights Cemetery. Dr. Zimmermans dear friends, Gordon Swenson and Frank Huston, will be officiating.Reception following the funeral will be at Community Church of Keystone Heights.
