Obituary

We celebrate the amazing life of Dawn Elaine Joiner, born on July 1, 1948, in Leesburg, Florida. Dawn was reunited with Our Heavenly Father on October 15, 2025, in Alachua, Florida, leaving a legacy of unconditional love, strength, and unwavering faith.

Dawn was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Raymond Joiner, with whom she celebrated 62 years (December 29th, 1963) of a wonderful & committed marriage, including a touching renewal of their vows that solidified their commitment to one another on their 50th Year. Dawn was the rock of her family and a steadfast friend, known for her caring spirit and determination to ensure her family & those around her knew Christ. She inspired those around her with her wisdom, resilience, always encouraging her loved ones to grow in their faith and know the Lord.

An avid freshwater fisherman when she has the opportunity, a gardener working in her flowers & food for her table, talented woodworker, sewer, crocheter and teacher, Dawn found joy in simple pleasures, whether tending to her to beautiful yard & flowers or creating beautiful handmade gifts. She loved her time spent fishing or enjoying the beach, mountains, her back porch & company of family & friends. As a devoted years as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, vacation Bible teacher, Seniors programs helper/participant. Dawn cherished her church fellowship, dedicating time to serve in the church kitchen for special events, singing in the senior choir or helping transporting elders that needed help getting back and forth to their doctors' appointments.

Dawn's mission in life was clear: to instill faith in her family and leave a legacy of love that reflected her love for Christ. Renowned for her strength, she faced life's challenges with grace, making her a beloved figure in her community.

Dawn was a person who appreciated all that life gave her and witnessed to all, even in her diminished state near the end of her life, she quickly made friends in the cancer center, radiation center or waiting on her next CT scan sharing Christ love. She truly embodied the adage of a life well lived.

My dad called her His Sugarbaby" and stated "she was a baby when he met and married her and they raised two babies while they were still babies, and then later they had another baby. She was a baby when we married but grew into a beautiful Woman."

Funeral services will be held to honor Dawn's remarkable life, on Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 AM at First Baptist church in High Springs, Florida. Family and friends are invited to come together as we pay honor to a woman whose spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts. In keeping with her wishes, Dawn will be laid to rest, and her loved ones will gather to celebrate her enduring legacy of faith, love, and resilience.
