Dawn Jeanette Nichols passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at the Haven Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, Florida at the age of 76. Dawn was born on September 20, 1946, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She resided in New Jersey until her early 30s when she moved to Florida. A talented seamstress and artist, she could design and create just about anything with material and paint. She began sewing clothing for herself at a young age. Her skill developed into an extraordinary talent. Some of her best work included full body costumes, bridesmaid dresses, wedding gowns, and furniture upholstery. As an accomplished artist, her work included award winning miniatures, wall murals and numerous paintings on various media. Her talent was truly amazing.Dawns pride was in her children, grandchildren and family. She enjoyed lifes simple pleasures such as quiet evenings, dinners and gatherings with family and close friends. Dawn often found enjoyment in nature's exquisite beauty. She particularly loved horses, birds and bonsai trees. She lived life to the fullest and found happiness in everything. Her warm smile and pleasant personality displayed her unconditional love and was contagious to those around her. Dawns memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Dawn is preceded in death by her loving parents Robert E. and Bert (Hardie) Nichols Sr., her siblings Robert E. (Linda) Nichols Jr., Jerilee A. Nichols, and Arthur F. (Gesa) Nichols. Dawn is survived by her children and respective grandchildren: Heather Nichols (Wyatt Martin) and Joseph R. (Karen) Nichols (Abigail, Chloe, Matthew and Andrew Nichols), along with many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church: 11665 Fort Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32225. Dawn will be interred in the family memorial at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Kenilworth, New Jersey, at a later date.
