Obituary

De'Ada Vivian (Rousseau) King, 97, was born on the Fourth of July, 1916 to John C. and Mabel Howell Rousseau in Jacksonville, FL. This angel went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3, 2014 in Fleming Island, FL, after a long life filled with many blessings and the love and adoration of her family. She was born at home, during the pre-depression era, three months premature and not expected to survive, but she lived a long, happy life of almost 98 years. She loved music, chocolate, southern cuisine, and being close to water at the beach or the lake house where she hosted many guests. As a young woman she loved to dance, and soon fell in love with the oldest son of a large family, her sweetheart, Buddy King. An only child, she became the matriarch of a family with nine siblings and a large extended family. She embraced her new large family and there was always room at her table for anyone who would stop by. She loved unconditionally, and devoted her 97 years to providing the warmest, and most nurturing home for her children, countless family and friends, cousins, and her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, who she loved more than life. She was an amazing cook, and the warmth of her kitchen was equal only to the warmth of her loving embrace. She was a pillar of strength while always showing the tenderness of a true southern lady. She was the best Mother and Grandmother that any child could have ever dreamed of. Grandmama is now in heaven with her beloved husband of 66 years, Chief Sion Joseph Buddy King, Jr., her parents, and her daughter, Linda Jane King and granddaughter, Robin King McCord. She is survived by her children Robert M. Bobby King of Decatur, AL, Sion Joseph Joe King, III (Sherry), and Susan Jane Janie (King) Phillips (Peyton) all of Keystone Heights, FL; grandchildren Robert M. King, Jr., Mark King, Linda King Corbit (Danny), Stephanie King Moore (Kevin), Kerry Brent Page, Jr., Leslie King Ates (Justin), Joseph Brian Page (Kristin), Brooke Page Tucker (Howard), Lawrence Bradley Page, and many loving great-grand children, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We will miss her so much, but we know that she is in the presence of the Heavenly Father now and we will see her again. Funeral Services will conducted by a longtime family friend, Rev. Daniel Nail of Atlanta, GA on Friday, May 9, 2014 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206 (904) 355-9545. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Family will receive friends and family at 12 p.m., followed by the service at 1 p.m. and interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 North Main Street.VisitationFriday, May 9, 201412:00 PM - 01:00 PM Chapel of George H.
