Dolores J. PowellDolores "Dee" Jones Powell, age 85, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was born on April 18, 1936, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She moved to Florida in 1956 where she raised her family and had a long career as a paralegal.Dee was a past Worthy Matron of Southside Chapter #28, Order of the Eastern Star and always enjoyed holding the office of Ester. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society. Dee loved riding motorcycles and visiting with her family and friends.A memorial service, officiated by Dr. Terry N. Collins of Southpoint Baptist Church, - with an Eastern Star Funeral Service to follow - will be held at 2:00 on Thursday December 2, 2021 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, S., Jacksonville, Florida.Dee was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George Robert Powell. She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Putney (David) of Franklinville, New York and by her son, Jeff Giroux (Janice) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; two step-daughters, Vickie Powell Eddins of Jacksonville, Florida and Lisa Powell Woods (Leo) of Henrico, Virginia, as well as eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and many other extended family members and friends.In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to your favorite charity or spending time with your loved ones and letting them know how much you care.Following the memorial service, friends may gather to commune and have fellowship with the family at a lunch provided by the Southside Chapter #28, Order of the Eastern Star being held at Duvall Lodge, located at 2620 Dean Road.
