Williamson Age 95 Of Penney Farms

Delores J. (Dee) Williamson passed over on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, FL. She was born and raised in Stow, Ohio, at the family farm on Fishcreek Road on May 1, 1931. She graduated as a '49er from Stow High School, and commuted to Kent State University, graduating in 1953 with a B.S. in
Nutrition. In 1955, she completed a dietetic internship at Indiana University. Medical Center, Indianapolis, Indiana. After working two years at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, NY, Dee moved to Iowa City. There she spent the greatest portion of her life as a teaching and clinical dietitian at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, working with dietetic interns and in many patient areas. In May 1977, she completed an MS degree at the University of Iowa.
Dee retired in 1991 yet continued some part-time teaching at Kirkwood. Community College. Soon, however, she moved to St. Cloud, FL, living near her
brother Earl and his wife Jackie, caring for their father, Ike Williamson, in his last years of life.
Dee moved to Penney Retirement Community, Florida, in 2004. Her volunteer activities included feeding residents in Long-Term Care at the Pavilion, transporting residents for Medical Care, and delivering mail to Assisted Living Facility at Beyer House. She was an active member of Penney Memorial Church. Dee was easily identified
and known for her presence round about campus while upon her three wheeled tricycle. She enjoyed vegetable gardening all her life, continuing both gardening and trike riding to the age of 91.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Celia and G.S. "Ike" Williamson, and her brother Earl E. Williamson.
Surviving nephews are Lawrence Williamson of Asheville, NC; Gerald Williamson of Flintstone, GA; and nieces Deborah Williamson of Roanoke, VA; Donna Cinti of Gila, NM; and Ann Newton of Greenbrier, TN. Surviving friends include Ann Cruise of Huntington, WV, and Ann Colisky, who, with Dee Yurdock, arrived nearly simultaneously with her at PRC in 2004. There are many other friends at PRC.
Interment of her ashes will be at Penney Farms Cemetery. A memorial service
will be held at Penney Memorial Church on Saturday June 20, 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Residents Aid Fund, Penney Memorial.
