Mr. Dois D.O. Orlando Brown 87, of Lawtey passed away at the Haven Hospice E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Mr. Brown was born on September 23, 1924 in Graham to the late Arthur Garfield and Leah Blanch (Crawford) Brown. He had served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the Madison Street Baptist Church. Prior to his retirement he was a Truck Driver for Central Truck lines out of Jacksonville for 30 years and then following his retirement he became a farmer. Survivors are his wife of 66 years; Sylvia (Wright) Brown and their children; Sandra Brown King and her husband Wayne of Jacksonville, Mike Brown, Sr. and his wife Kathy of Lawtey, Shawna Brown Burkhalter and her husband Ashley of Starke, and one sister; Leigh Edison of Tequesta, FL. Mr. Brown also leaves behind his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Madison Street Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Crook officiating. The viewing will begin at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Brown Cemetery.
