Dolores Lagrua

Mrs. Dolores "Lorry" Marilyn LaGrua (91) of Keystone Heights passed away at Park of the Palms Assisted Living Facility in Keystone Heights on Sat., July 13, 2019. Lorry was born April 7, 1928 to parents Horace A. and Myrtle C. Young in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up there and in Key West and returned to graduate from Lakewood High School in 1946. She was kind to everyone she met and was well-known for her sense of humor, hospitality and sweet smile. She moved to Keystone Heights in 2012 to be closer to her family. While in high school in Key West during WWII, she ew with the Civil Air Patrol. In 1947, she married Jack F. Pickford and was a devoted mother and Navy wife for 19 years, traveling extensively throughout the United States and Europe. In 1966, she married David LaGrua in Key West and worked at the Boca Chica Airbase while he was in the Florida Marine Patrol. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 2016. She loved people, especially her family, memories of dancing at the USO in Key West, animals, food, and singing along to music she recalled from her full and rewarding life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Key West and attended Keystone United Methodist Church. Mrs. LaGrua is survived by her two children: John (Doris) Pickford, of Port St. Lucie, and Bonnie (Robert) Wright of Hawthorne and four step-children: Dr. Lori (Tim) Ley of Green Cove Springs, Teresa (David) Sanday of Middleburg, David LaGrua of Keystone Heights, and Denise James of Chassahowitzka; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, July 22 at 11 am at Keystone United Methodist Church located at 4004 SE SR 21, Keystone Heights with a reception to follow.
