Donald "Don" Blaine Colwell

Donald "Don" Blaine Colwell age 84, of Hawthorne passed on into the arms of our Heavenly Father Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville following extended illness. Don was born in Flint, Michigan on January 25th, 1933 to the late Nelson Orlando and Esther Muriel (Cosand) Colwell.Don has been a resident of the Hawthorne area for the last 13 years, before he resided in Byron, Michigan on McKaine Lake for 39 years; he was also a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights. He served in Korea with the US Army, and worked for General Motors in Michigan before retiring after 37 years of service.He loved his family, he also loved being a millwright, his dogs, to bowl, play golf, the Florida Gators, and to fly his Ultralite. Don loved life, and never had a job that he did not like. Don is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Colwell of Hawthorne; children, N. Blaine Colwell (Lori) of Hawthorne, Mark K. Colwell of Bradenton, and Kasandra Johnson (Eric) of Pensacola; stepchildren Sheri Saunders of Flint, MI, and Kandice (Kerry) Barr of Gainesville; brothers Dewey Colwell (Barbara) of Grand Blanc, MI and Duane Colwell (Carlos Vitier) of Keystone Heights; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Daniel Colwell and Richard (Dick) Colwell, along with his previous wife, Suzanne M. Disberry and step-son, Eron Disberry. Family will receive friends from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. on Monday, June 12th, 2017, and 2:00 p.m. to time of service on June 13th, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13th, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Hubbard and Pastor Scott Stanland officiating.
