Donald Donovan

Donald "Donny" Donovan, age 32, of Melrose passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Shands Hospital following injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. Donny was born in Lakewood, New Jersey on April 18, 1985 and was a 2003 graduate of Keystone Heights High School. He was a volunteer firefighter with Station 24 in Melrose and was also a security contractor in Gainesville with 8 Seconds and Main Street Bar & Billiards. Donny was member of Trinity Baptist Church where he also volunteered to coach soccer and football along with other youth activities. He loved bull riding, was a "Jack of all trades", and would help anyone in need. Donny was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roger Baughman II. He is survived by his 4 year old daughter Daily Donovan of Melrose, mother Carol Baughman of Melrose; father and step mother John and Rendy Donovan of Conway, Arkansas; three brothers, William Donovan of Mississippi, Robert ODonnell of Melrose, Thomas ODonnell of North Carolina; one sister Tiffany Donovan of Conway, Arkansas; three step daughters Kia Johnston, Kayden Johnston and Harley Barron all of Alabama. Also left behind are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and additional family and friends that will miss him dearly. Visitation for Donny will be held on Thursday, March 1st, and Friday, March 2nd from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Clay Robinson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Melrose Fire Department, P.O. Box 646, Melrose, FL 32666 and to please place information for an emergency contact person in the glove-box of your personal vehicle.
