Donald Lee Roberts

Donald Lee Roberts, 81 left this world peacefully on June 20, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Lockport, Illinois, son of Dr. Jack and Ethel Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou Roberts, and his son Dr. Christopher Roberts of Jacksonville, FL and four grandchildren. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, and was honored by membership in the Grand Guard conferred in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the class of 1958. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and spent two years as Chief Pharmacist, 9th Naval District, Great Lakes, Illinois. They moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1962 where they opened Roberts Cape Coral Pharmacy and spent 16 years there. While in Cape Coral he was elected to the Cape Coral City Council. His family then moved to Colorado Springs, CO where he worked in pharmacy until his retirement in 2000. After retirement they moved to Jacksonville, FL to be near Christopher and Grandchildren. They then traveled extensively in a motor home throughout the US, Canada and Alaska. After giving up the motor home lifestyle they began traveling internationally. Don enjoyed travel and was fortunate to visit many interesting places. He remained a die-hard Gator fan attending many football games as a UF Alumni Life Member. When not traveling he enjoyed golf and fishing. Funeral services will be private.
