Donnie Pearson Head

Mr. Donnie Pearson Head age 93, a longtime resident of the Lake Area Region passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Haven Hospice E. T. York Care in Gainesville. He was born March 2, 1926, in Griffin, Georgia and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was a federal employee for over twenty years working as a supervisor in the building and maintenance division; he was also a retired part time minister. Mr. Head was a devout Christian and longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights before moving his letter to the First Baptist Church in Starke. He was also an avid Gator fan and a 32nd Degree Mason in Georgia. Mr. Head was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty plus years Viola Head. His survivors are his wife of 18 plus years Lola (Hunter) Head of Starke; two children Donnie L. Head (Jane) of Sarasota and Elaine Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia along with a stepson Randall Zipperer (Denise) of Starke. Also left behind are three granddaughters Christina Johnson, Dana Burk and Roxanna Hinzman and a host of additional family members and friends. A memorial service for Mr. Head will be held Friday, August 9, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Reverend Scott Stanland and Reverend Scott Crook officiating. There will be a brief visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Parkside Assisted Living Facility 329 N. Church St., Starke, FL 32091.
