Doris Mary Anast (NeeNordmeyer), wife ofthe late James G. Anast,of Gainesville, FL died1/11/23 after a brief stintof terminal cancer. Shewas born in Chicago, ILto Marie Egan Nordmey-er & Frank Nordmeyer,Jr. She is survived by heronly sister Shirley Nord-meyer Terry, daughters Mary Anast & Paula Anast,step children George Anast, Valerie Anast Gonza-lez, Kathleen Anast Arcurri & John Anast, as wellas several step grandchildren. In her younger years,she loved sports, dancing, food & travel. She touredEurope in the 1950s & lived briefly in Hawaii in the1960s. She did secretarial/administrative work allher life until retirement. She & her family movedto Gainesville in the early 1980s & she has remainedhere since. She was very active in her church, HolyFaith Catholic Church, but also attended St. Pat-rick Catholic Church services. She was a part ofthe Angels of Mercy through Holy Faith, carryingon correspondence with many people throughoutFlorida, the country & even the world, up until justweeks before death. She was a eucharistic ministerbefore her physical ailments made it impossible.She is known & loved by many & will be greatlymissed as a member of the Gainesville community.A Catholic mass will be celebrated Fri., 1/20/23 at11am with viewing prior from 10am-11am at HolyFaith Catholic Church in Gainesville.
