Mrs. Doris Ann Bennett, age 77, of Keystone Heights passed away at the Shands UF Hospital on September 3, 2012. She was born in North Lawrence, Ohio on June 15, 1935 to the late John Leslie and Anna (Truax) Anderson and was of the Methodist Faith. Mrs. Bennett has been a resident of Keystone Heights since 1964 moving here from Ohio. Doris is well known in the area from working at the Wal-Mart in Starke, and running the Huntley Jiffy stores before they became Kangaroo. She helped rebuild the Gizmo, Midway store when it burned and also the Melrose Kangaroo store. She enjoyed playing bingo at both The American Legion and Am Vets Post here in Keystone Heights where she met and made lifelong friends who will miss her dearly. Preceding her in death was her soul mate; husband Jack Hamilton Bennett who passed away in 1991. Survivors are her children; Jacqueline Ann (Bennett) Michaud and her husband James D. Michaud, John Luther Bennett Sr. and Virginia A. Bennett, six grandchildren; John Luther Bennett, Jr., Valerie Ann Bennett, Jack Ryan Bennett, Katherine N. Michaud, Matthew J. Michaud, and Ellie Ann Bennett. She also leaves behind her three loving great grandchildren; John Luther Bennett, III, Farrah Ann Fleming and Madylinn Renee Michaud. A memorial service for Doris will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. in the Jones Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Dan Dodd officiating.
