Doris McKee Brown, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 19, 2022 after a long battle with lung disease. She was born August 2, 1932 in Ohiobut, as a young child her family moved to Balboa, Panama, where her father was an integral part of the development & building of the Panama Canal.She grew up in the Canal Zone until her mid-20's, when she returned to the states to start her family.Doris is preceded in death by her parents, William S. McKee & Alpha M. McKee, her siblings, Rose V. McKee, Kiefer W. McKee, & Marcus R. McKee, along with other extended family members.Doris is survived by her dear husband, J. Wendell Brown, her son,David H. Owen, Jr, daughter-in-law, Michelle Halsnik-Owen, andgrandson, Nicholas; her son, Stephen P. Owen,daughter-in-law, Donna Owen, and grandchildren, Stevie & Christina; her daughter, Judy Owen Brock; and daughter, Renee Rains, grandchildren Victoria & Tyler, great-grandson, Brooks,and grandchildren, Jillian & Craig, great-grandchildren, Sloane & Dex, and grandson, Alexander.We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends. She worked very hard during her time here and made a difference in the lives of many.Doris was a smart, witty, talented, faith-filled, and extremely strong woman but, she never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her.We invite you to join us to celebrate Doris together at 10:00 am on Friday September 23rd at Forest Meadows Funeral Home; 725 NW 23rd Avenue Gainesville, Florida.
