Doris Ellen Hargis

Doris Ellen Hargis, 88, of Gainesville, FL went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ April 7, 2016 at UF Shands. She was born September 7, 1927 in Durham, NC to Norwood Tew and Louise Lewis Tew. Mrs. Hargis was a medical secretary for the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation in Miami for 30 years. After she and her husband came to Gainesville in 1997, she continued working as a medical secretary at Alachua General Hospital in their pathology department. She loved to read and spend time with her family. Her loving way and sweet personality made an impression on everyone she met. She had a very strong faith and one of her favorite bible verses was 1st Cor. 1-4 (read it and believe it).She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband of 60 years, Wesley G. Hargis, Jr., son, Wesley Kemp Hargis both of Gainesville, two sisters, Nita Tew Hyde of Newberry and Jean Tew Blackstone, Bogart, GA. A family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
