Doris Mae Barber Strickland

Doris Mae Barber Strickland, age 85, passed away on Saturday March 25, 2017 at Community Hospice Earl B. Hadlow Center in Jacksonville. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 28, 2017 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Joseph Caro officiating and rites by the Order of the Eastern Star.A Jacksonville native, Doris was born here on February 15, 1932 to George Newton Barber & Lora Elizabeth Landon Barber. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and a retired overseas and high seas operator for AT&T. Doris was also a longtime member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Southside Chapter # 28.Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Murdock Strickland; a son, Murdock Strickland, Jr. and a sister, Mildred Wachenheim.
