Obituary

CHAMBERS: Funeral services for Dorothy "Dot" Sapp Chambers, 105, who passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023, will be held Tuesday at 10 AM in the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 North Main Street with Dr. Herb Reavis Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Chambers was born in Green Cove Springs, Florida and was a resident of Jacksonville, Florida since 1941. She was a 1936 graduate of Mellon High School in Palatka, FL and a 1941 graduate of Erlanger Hospital Nursing School in Chattanooga, TN. She was a volunteer with St. Vincent's Hospital Auxiliary from 1993 to 2016 and a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church where she was active in the music ministry from 1947 to 2018. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society. "Dot" was a gifted painter, musician, writer, and possessed a nonstop sense of humor. She had a love of life and lived it to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, the late John A. Chambers, daughter in law, Marcy Chambers, and grandson, Paul Chambers. Survivors include her 2 sons, Chuck Chambers (JoAnne), and Craig Chambers; 1 grandson, David Chambers (Christy); 4 great-grandchildren, Leah, Austin, Raiden and Sylis. Pallbearers are Don Smith, Ed Wilcox, Joe Chapman, John Bowen, Everett Wollitz, John Fatu, David Chambers, and David Abraham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32218. Arrangements under the direction of George H.
