Dorothy Powers Mosley

Dorothy Mae Powers Mosely was born to Washington Powers Sr. and Alberta Ross Powers on January 17, 1935. She was educated in Alachua County schools. She spent her adult years in Daytona Beach Florida, Gainesville, Florida and Atlanta, Ga. She retired from TacaChale, formerly Sunny land Training Center where she worked for more than 22 years as a Supervisor with children with special needs.She accepted Christ at an early age at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Montioch, Florida. She later joined Emanuel Baptist Church where she was an active member. After many years of living in Gainesville she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to live with her daughter and united with New Macedonia Baptist Church in Riverdale, Georgia.She transitioned on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Shands Teaching Hospital. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Bradley, and two brothers, Washington Powers Jr, and Andrew Powers.She leaves to cherish her memories three children: Barbara Ellis Moore (Franklin), Dr. Jackie Ellis Williams and Billie Ellis, Jr (Jamie). Five siblings Mae B Scott, Merlene Holmes, Rodella Cunningham (Willie), and Betty Fomby, and Leroy Powers (Pearl). Seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews. Special friends Ora Fuller, Joe and Yvonne Jacobs.
