Dorothy "Dot" Harrison Rowe

Dorothy "Dot" Harrison Rowe, 88, passed away November 3, 2019 following a brief illness. Dot was born June 25, 1931 in Rocky Mount, NC to Leon Ford and Pattye Fuller Harrison. After graduation from high school in Wilmington, NC, she attended Jacksonville Jr. College where she met her future husband, John. After working briefly at Prudential, Dot & John settled Gainesville and then moved to Keystone Heights in 1970. Until 1979, Dot dedicated her time to raising her children and volunteer work. She retired from Campville Group Ministry after serving twenty years as secretary to many small churches throughout North Florida.Dot was a life member of Girl Scouts of America working in many capacities for more than 45 years, receiving many awards and accolades. She also served as PTA President and volunteered for many school functions.As a charter member of Keystone United Methodist Church, she served as past President of United Methodist Women, Circle Chair and many other capacities. Most recently, she volunteered in the church office and continued her personal ministry of knitting prayer shawls for those in need.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Rowe; siblings Leon F. Harrison, Jr., Louise Wash, Eleanor OKeef and son in law, John Allen.Survivors include daughters Cheryl Allen and Pattye (Kenny) McLean all of Keystone Heights, Grandchildren; Crystal McLean of Keystone Heights and Tucker (Savannah) McLean of Crestview, Great Grandchildren; Vayda, Weston, Annabelle and Levi, and eight nieces and nephews.A celebration of life for Dot will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019 in the Keystone United Methodist Church.
