Mrs. Dorothy Hyman Smith, 91, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2011, in Jacksonville, Florida, where she had lived the past 10 years.She was married to C. Harry Smith, who preceded her in death in the year 2001. Dorothy and Harry were residents of Mobile, Alabama, for many years and active in the community being members of the Spring Hill Presbyterian Church.Dorothy was a member of the Arthritis Foundation, serving in various positions. She received numerous awards for her volunteerism in the Mobile community. Since moving to Jacksonville, Florida, she often spoke about the wonderful life that she and Harry experienced in Mobile and the deep friendships she enjoyed and kept in her heart always. She is survived by her sister, Flora Hyman, Jacksonville, Fla., and many loving and caring nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, Mobile, Alabama or the Arthritis Foundation of Mobile.A private celebration of her life will be held by her family at a later date.
