Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Ames Tyson, 86, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from the graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Steve McCollum officiating.Born August 19, 1935 in Brunswick, Georgia to Elizabeth and Roland H. Ames, Sr. Mrs. Tyson died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 in Jacksonville. She was a registered nurse. A graduate from St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 where she then worked as a registered nurse for four years before moving in 1971 to work as a registered nurse for AT&T. She worked for AT&T until 1990 when she retired after 20 years of service. Mrs. Tyson was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed watching Charles Stanley sermons and singing along with the Gaithers.She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Roland H. Ames, Jr. and her dog "Troubles". She is survived by her friends Shirley Tritt and Carole Strom who were like sisters to her and Gail T.
