Dorsey Lee Carroll Iii

Dorsey Lee Carroll, born January 30, 1952 in Jacksonville, Florida to Dorsey L. and Jean McKinney Carroll passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on November 13, 2016. Lee attended Lola M. Culver Elementary School, Kirby-Smith Junior High and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1970. Lee was a third generation electrician, and so Proud of his legacy. He worked in the family electrical business, Carroll Electric Company, Inc. with grandfather Dorsey "Dixie" and his father Dorsey. Lee was among the first graduates, (there were 10) in March of 1976 of the NEFBAs Electrical Apprenticeship program. Lee became a Master Electrician in 1986. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father he served as President of the Duval County Master Electricians Association in 1995. In his earlier years, Lee spent a lot of time surfing and riding around the beach in his pick-up truck with his dog and a surf board. He loved deep sea fishing, and things related to the water and the wind.He was preceded in death by his mother Jean McKinney Carroll, his grandfather Dorsey L. "Dixie" Carroll, Sr., his beloved uncle C.O. "Sonny" Mckinney, his aunt Ruth Tuten, and his nephew Clint Leachman. He is survived by his wife Ann, his father Dorsey L. Carroll, Jr., his sister Marilyn Leachman (Terry), sister Patricia Carroll (Christine), daughter Krista Jones (Steve), son Jaren Ashe (Jamie), nephew Erik Leachman, grand children Chelsea Bullard, Suzannah and Hunter Barry. He also leaves a plethora of fur babies to miss him. The Family will greet friends Thursday evening November 17th from 6-8 pm at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 N. Main St. A memorial service will be held Friday November 18 beginning at 10 am at the funeral home with Pastor Lyle Shiferdek officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
