Doyce Albert Griffis age 81 of Starke passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, inGainesville following a brief illness. He was born February 1, 1942, in BradfordCounty to Albert and Mildred (Morrell) Griffis and graduated from BradfordHigh School in 1960. He was employed in the survey field right out of HighSchool with Mr. McMillan, and later began his 32-year career at CampBlanding as a Federal Civil Service worker as a general mechanic, and was dualemployed with the Florida Army National Guards until his retirement. Doycewas of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time on his small farm tinkeringon his many projects, working his land, and his cows. In addition to his parentshe was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Anita Griffis. Leftbehind are his children Doyce Dean Griffis of Starke, Tyffany Griffis Wishart ofHampton, Polly Griffis Smith (Richie) of Steinhatchee, and Amy Beth Griffis ofStarke. Also left behind are five grandchildren Houston McClain, BriAnnWishart-Thomas (Brandon), Daniel Wishart, Briar Smith, and Jozee Smithalong with five great- grandchildren Bryson McClain, Braycen Thomas,Cameron McClain, Bayler Thomas, and Banx Thomas. Viewing will begin at10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church. Funeral serviceswill begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Russ Hale officiating.
