Dr. Rufino José Garcia Jerez, age 81, passed away on November 20, 2025 in Gainesville, Florida, his home for 31 years.

Rufino was born in León, Nicaragua on September 29, 1944 to Rufino Garcia and Luisa Jerez Garcia. Rufino married Coralia Cecilia Sevilla Moreira on June 13, 1980 in Managua, Nicaragua.

Rufino is survived by Coralia Garcia - wife; Estefania Garcia - daughter; Maria Jordana Lombardo - daughter, her husband Andrew Lombardo and their two sons - Joseph Antonio and Thomas Joaquin; Matthew Hand - son, his wife Jessica Colon and their two sons Sebastian and Felix; Ninoschka Garcia Jerez - sister; and many extended cousins, nieces, and nephews in Nicaragua, Mexico, and throughout the U.S.

Services for Rufino will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Holy Faith Catholic Church. There will be a Rosary at 10:30 am, a funeral mass at 11 am, burial at Forest Meadows Cemetery at 12:30 pm, followed by a reception at Holy Faith Parish Hall.
