Dr. Antoine Joseph Thomas was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti. He was the son of Hurlain Thomas and Antonine Eugene. He went to primary and secondary school at Freres de l'instruction Chretienne and College Notre Dame du Cap Haitien. He graduated medical school at L'universite d'Etat D'haiti and went to Universitad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia for his master's in Public Health. After earning his degrees, Dr. Thomas became a well-known physician respected by many in the country. He helped and healed many people. Throughout his life, Antoine served his country as the Assistant Director of the hospital in Hinche, the District Director of the hospital in Belladere (plateau Central), Chief of Zoonotic diseases at the Division D'hygiene familiale, annexes du Ministere de la Sante Publique et de la population (Port-au-Prince). He worked at la Banque Nationale de Credit (Port-au-Prince) as the physician of the employees. He taught at Siloye nursing school (Port-au-Prince). He also had his private practice where he served the community. Antoine was passionate about his work and represented his country as the director of the national program of rabies in diverse countries in Latin America. He practiced medicine for more than 47 years. He was involved in boy scout in Haiti. In his spare time, he liked to travel with his family. He was a devoted, an extraordinaire man with a humble heart and a great smile. He married Suzie Valbrun and they had 2 children: Guerline and Sabine. Dr. Thomas survived by his wife Suzie, his daughters Guerline, Sabine, his sister Jean Lourdes, his brothers and sister's in-laws, Cadet Valbrun (Renise), Lionel Valbrun (Mona), Hermine Valbrun Cadet, Lude Valbrun Duval (Ernest), Antonine Valbrun Jean Franois (Claude), his nephews, nieces, and cousins. His mission on earth was to serve and heal the sick and the poor. He will be deeply missed.
