Dwight Carlton Cochrane 52-year Jacksonville resident, born June 2, 1946 in Asheville, North Carolina to Joseph Gayle Cochrane and Alah Lee Pressley Cochrane.Dwight attended TC Roberson High School in Asheville where he met, dated, and married Lorraine Clark. He graduated in 1966, attended AB-Tech in Asheville (studied auto mechanics), & worked a short time at Taylor Instruments in Arden. In 1968, he joined the U.S. Navy Reserves for 14 months before receiving an honorable discharge. He was blessed with the birth of his son Dale in 1968 then he and his young family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 where he started working at Ring Power Corporation working in various positions over his 40-year tenure.In early 1970 he was blessed with the birth of his daughter Pam. For the next several years, Dwights interests included bowling & golfing, boating & fishing, watching and attending NASCAR races, and he had a great aptitude in auto mechanics or that involved working with his hands. Being a Ford man, he was particularly fascinated with his 1966 Ford Mustang. After his divorce, he met Vicky Claxton in 1982 while they were out with friends and were married a little over a month later. For the lifetime of their marriage, Dwight and Vicky shared numerous interests such as the love of animals, spending time outside, walking, riding bikes on the beach, visiting parks, nature trails, boating, eating out, working in the yard, and always being with their kids & grandkids whenever possible.Dwight will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, & great grandfather, and was fondly thought of by all who knew him.Dwight is survived by his Wife, Vicky; Son, Dale Cochrane; Daughter, Pamela Canington (Darren); Sister-in-law, Judy DAngelo; Brother-in-law, JC Claxton (Cheryl); Brother-in-law, Dean Claxton (Janice); Sister-in-law, Cora Hartle (Mark); Granddaughter, Stephanie Canington (Ethan Rogers) & great-grandson Jack Rogers; Grandson, Steven Canington (Weronica Bachara); Brother, Gaylen Cochrane; many nieces & nephews; and lifelong friend, Harrold Moffitt.An open visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday April 20th.
