Obituary

Dwight Barker Feldman Dwight Barker Feldman, 89, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on November 17, 2013. He was born in Martinsville, Virginia, to John and Beulah Feldman and spent his remaining years in Jacksonville, FL. He was married to Lillian Edna Chitty for 49 years until her death in 1995. In 1996 he married Dorena Chitty and they were married 17 years until her death one day before his. Dwight served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortresses during World War II in the European arena. After the war Dwight graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering and was a career lifetime employee of U.S. Gypsum Corp. He was an active member, Deacon, Sunday School Director and Teacher as a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church, Parkwood Baptist Church and currently of Terry Parker Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 49 years Edna, his daughter Jan Barker Collins, his wife of 17 years Dorena, his sister Martha and his brother Rutledge. He is survived by his two grandsons Jordan (Kasey) Collins and Matthew Collins and by his stepson James (Louise) Chitty of Ponte Vedra Beach and three stepdaughters and husbands: Ann (Thomas) Wade of Tampa, FL, Carol (John) Moyer of Jacksonville and Nancy (Roger) Smythers ofJacksonville.His family legacy includes 22 Grandchildren: Trey (Lauren) Chitty, Mary Allison Chitty, Matthew (Jennifer) Chitty, Amy (Ryan) Biggs, Nathan (Jamie) Wade, Laura (Phillip) Hooks, Courtney (Drew) Pilkenton, Jason Moyer, Adrienne (Rob) Miller, Adam Smythers, Aaron (Brittany) Smythers, Jordan (Kasey) Collins, and Matthew Collins as well as 15 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22nd, at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., South. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 at the Terry Parker Baptist Church, 7024 Merrill Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Howard Goodwin officiating.
