Mr. Ed Ray Todd age 88, of Starke passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. He was born in Dukes on March 14, 1928 to the late Lacy and Mamie (Carlton) Todd. Mr. Todd was raised in Union County and in 1954 he moved to Starke. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from I.E. DuPont as a head dry mill operator. Mr. Todd attended Starke Church of God and was an avid outdoorsman; he loved farming and taking care of his property, playing his guitar and singing. He also loved teaching his grandchildren about nature and gardening. Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Virue (Rowe), one son, Roy Lightsey and four siblings, Fayree Todd Dingmon, J.B. Todd, Maybelle Todd Carnley and Lawrence Todd. His survivors are his daughter and son in law, Kathy Crews and Alton of Starke; he was papa Ed to nine grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren. Also left behind are numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Todd will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2016 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Reverend Alton Crews officiating. Interment will follow at Sapp Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to the services.
