Edith Freeman Beattie, age 81, of Starke died on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Parkside Assisted Living. She was born in Independence, Iowa on May 18, 1934 to the late John and Edith Freeman. Edith moved to Starke in 1990 from Port Orange after retiring from AT&T where she worked for 31 years. Mrs. Beattie was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved knitting, reading mystery books, Ladies of the Church, and all of her friends at Parkside Assisted Living. She was a preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Eddie Beattie; and her daughter Marian Ann Greene. Survivors include her brother, JJ Freeman of Florence, Mississippi. Memorial services for Mrs. Beattie will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church at 200 N Walnut St. Starke, Florida 32091 with Rev Mike Moore officiating. An inurnment will take place later in the week at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the First United Methodist Church. P.O.
