Edith Carey

Edith W. Carey, 72, passed away on Friday February 5, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. Edith was a Jacksonville native, born here on February 24, 1948 to James A. Wiggins & Julie D. (McCallman) Wiggins. She was a graduate of Nathan B. Forrest High School & worked for many years in the medical field, most notably as a Ward Clerk at Baptist Hospital.Edith is survived by her loving & devoted husband of 35 years, Walter H. Carey. She also survived by her sister, Louise Akers & her husband, Charlie as well as a son & a daughter.Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday February 8th in George H. Hewell & Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 9th in Jacksonville National Cemetery.Due to Covid restrictions at the cemetery, In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Edith's name to your favorite charity..Receiving FriendsGeorge H.
