Edith M. Ellis

Edith M. Ellis, age 86, of Jacksonville, Florida, Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully July 15, 2016. Edith was born December 18, 1929 to Fitz Simmons and Pearl May McCormick of Fort White, FL. She married Roper Jordan Ellis Jr. on March 7, 1952 and celebrated 59 years of marriage. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Roper Jordan Ellis Jr. and is survived by their four sons; Roper "Jordan" III (Laura), LaRue (Lori), Justin (Mary) all of Jacksonville FL, Baxter (Renee) of Mint Hill, NC; four grandsons; Daniel (Caron), Justin Allyn, Reid, and Dakota; granddaughters Carol Ann Moya-Mendez (Joey) and Kristen Oxidine and great-grandchildren; Lily, Jude and Aidan. Edith was one of nine children and is further survived by her sister, Mary Guernsey, Jacksonville, FL.Her Memorial Service will be Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, 2137 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, 32218.In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of George H.
