Mr. Edward Rowe Deyo (Sam) age 84, of Keystone Heights passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at Windsor Manor Nursing Home in Starke, Florida. Mr. Deyo was born on February 14, 1929 in Jacksonville to the late Arnold and Mary Elizabeth Deyo and moved to Keystone Heights from Jacksonville 38 years ago. Edward served in the United States Navy, retired as a Detective Sergeant for the City of Jacksonville Police Department, serving for 25 years, and retired as load supervisor for Ryder Trucking Company. Sam was a member of the Masonic Temple in Jacksonville, the Melrose Lodge in Keystone Heights, and served as past President of the Keystone Heights Shrine Club. He spent many enjoyable days performing as a Keystone Kop for the benefit of the Shriners Hospital for Children and Burn Center. Survivors are: his wife of 65 years; Violet (Langford) Deyo of Keystone Heights; three children, Edward R. Deyo Jr., Kathy Deyo West, and Robert A. Deyo; four grandchildren, Pamela Harvey, Jennifer Guthrie, Jessica West, and Zack Deyo, and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the DEWITT C. JONES CHAPEL at JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 620 Nona St. in Starke on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday morning August 10th at 11 oclock in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Pastor Chris Coram officiating. Interment will follow in Keystone Heights Cemetery. A reception will be held in his honor following interment at the Keystone Heights Shrine Club, 5593 SE 3rd Ave., Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
