Edward C Groves

Edward C. Groves, age 89 of Starke, passed away on September 26, 2015. Mr. Groves was born on November 9, 1925 in Umatilla, Florida to the late William and Bertha "Harnage" Groves. He was married to his wife, Doris "Draughon" Groves, for 68 wonderful years. Prior to retirement at age 60, he worked as a truck driver for Sawyer Gas Company. He was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church, an avid reader, and enjoyed going to the mountains. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Bertha Groves; one brother and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Doris Groves of Starke; three sons, William (Margie) Groves of Lakeland, Wayne Groves of Starke, and James Groves of Starke; one daughter, Rebecca (Chris) Hord of Hawthorne; one sister, Nina Mae Cross; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Starke. Visitation will take place from 5PM-7PM, on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Rev.
