Edward Earl McCaskill, Sr. (Ed), 94, passed away on Friday May 15th 2015 at UF Health in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness. He was born in Dothan, AL on December 9, 1920 to Mack Daniel and Mercedes Antoinette McCaskill. He spent his early years in Gainesville, Florida, and his teen years in Pensacola, Florida. He served in the military during WWll at Camp Blanding as a Military Investigator reaching the rank of Sergeant. While there he met his wife Hilda Virginia Berry who was also in the military. They lived most of their lives in Jacksonville until 2001 when they moved to Blairsville, GA. They were married for over 65 years until her death in 2011. He returned to Florida in 2013, first to Palm Coast and then to Jacksonville in 2014. He worked as a successful salesman for 25 years at Irvington Moore and as Vice President at Power & Pumps, Inc. for 8 years until he retired in 1985. He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church where he served as lector, usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11746. His favorite hobby was golf. He is survived by 3 children Edward (Barbara) McCaskill Jr. of Palm Coast, Daniel (Nancy) McCaskill of Jacksonville; and step daughter Margaret (Peggy) (Ron) Schultz of Blairsville, GA. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by 2 sisters, Marie and Maxine and 3 grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held on May 30, 2015 at 9:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 601 Airport Center Dr. E. Jacksonville, FL where he was a member for the past year. A reception will follow immediately in the parish hall. Interment will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Blairsville, GA., where he was a member for 12 years, next to his wife following a mass for the repose of his soul on June 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
