Mr. Edward David Register age 64, of Keystone Heights passed away in Gainesville on April 1, 2014. He was born on the Fort Benning Military Base in Columbus, Georgia on October 6, 1949 to the late Ralph and Dorothy (Barber) Register, and had served in the United States Army. David was in the 25th Infantry during the Vietnam War, and had received the Bronze Star Medal for his heroism in ground combat along with several additional medals which include The Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Combat Infantry and Marksmanship Badges. He was a member of the Amvets Post 86 in Keystone Heights and had retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. Survivors are his wife Penny Register and his son, Max Osborne both of Keystone Heights ; two brothers, Carl Register of Melrose and Randy Register of Keystone Heights along with one sister, Barbara Hunter of Florahome. A celebration of Davids life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Amvets Post 86, 6685 Brooklyn Bay Road, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
