Obituary

Mr. Edward Leroy Wallace 58, of Starke passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 after a long, courageous battle at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. Mr. Wallace was born on February 9, 1952 in Oregon City, Oregon and was preceded by his father Michael Martin Wallace. Mr. Wallace was raised in Belgrade, Montana until he joined the US Navy in 1970 where he retired after serving proudly for 20 years and 2 month as an Aviation Structural Mechanic Senior Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Wallace had recently worked as an Assistant Store Manager at Food Lion on Hawthorne Road in Gainesville, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lawtey. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Irene Wallace of Starke. His loving children are sons, William Wallace of Lawtey, Timothy Manning of Fort White, Jeremy Manning of Starke, Donald Manning of Keystone Heights and his daughter, Michele Thornton of Starke. Mr. Wallace was also blessed with seven grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his mother, Muzzette Marlene Wallace of Belgrade, Montana, one brother, Mike J. Wallace of Kodiak, Alaska and one sister, Ruth Wallace of Belgrade, Montana. Viewing for Mr. Wallace will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 from 6 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lawtey. Funeral services will be held at 11 Oclock on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Fail officiating. Burial will follow at the Crosby Lake Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family is asking for contributions to please be made to the First Baptist Church of Lawtey, P.O. Box 256, Lawtey, FL 32058.
