Mr. Elbert Charles Starling, Sr., age 63, of Keystone Heights passed away suddenly at Shands Hospital, Saturday, February 18, 2017. He was born in Fort Pierce on November 7, 1953 to the late James and Mattie (Hargrove) Starling. Following his high school graduation in Miami, Mr. Starling then joined the United States Army in which he also retired from following 20 plus years of service. Mr. Starling was a Christian and he loved fishing and traveling; he also enjoyed cooking and singing. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Felton, Roosvelt, Harold, Rufus and Melvin along with two sisters, Pearlie Lee and Roberta. Left behind to cherish his memory are his three children, Elbert Charles Starling, Jr. of El Paso, Texas, Theresa Suggs of Harker Heights, Texas and Tiffany Starling of Mariana. Also left behind are four sisters; Dollie Mae Bellany of Miami, Helen Givens (James) and Berth Ree Johnson (Gartrell) all of Lehigh Acres, and Annie Doris Scott of Quincy; two brothers, Clinton Starling of Tallahassee and Bernard Starling of Quincy. Also left behind are twelve grandchildren. A memorial service for Mr. Starling will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 340 E.
