Dr. Eleanor M. Schenck, entered into eternal rest on November 3, 2014, in Gainesville, Florida. Eleanor was born on October 29, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mickey Marshall and Dorothy Marshall. She was preceded in death by her father, who died fighting for his country in World War II, and her mother, Dorothy. She is survived by her four children, Steven, Thomas, Keith, and Megan, and five grandchildren. Eleanor came to Florida in 1955 and settled in Leesburg Florida. She moved to Gainesville in the 1960's. She graduated with a PhD from the University of Florida and was an educator. As the author of "Reading America", she delighted in being the "teacher who taught teachers to teach." After she retired from teaching, she worked as a representative of Aid Association for Lutherans for several years. For many years, Eleanor was a member of First Lutheran Church in Gainesville. Before that, she was instrumental in founding Bethany Lutheran Church in Leesburg, Florida. She enjoyed being active in the church and serving the Lord, Jesus Christ. A Funeral Service for Eleanor will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville, Florida.
