Elizabeth Palma Victoria Dehart

Elizabeth Gerdes Dehart, age 55, passed away Saturday, May 19th 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness.Born Elizabeth Pileggi Gerdes on June 11, 1962 to Paul and Victoria Gerdes in Chicago, Illinois, she was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Victoria Gerdes. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Devine of Lafayette Indiana and Diana Lach of Schaumburg, Illinois as well as one brother, Paul Gerdes, her husband of 35 years, Roger DeHart and one son, Justin DeHart.Elizabeth was a very devoted wife and mother. Elizabeth and Roger met in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1981 while Roger was stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana. They were married October 1983 and blessed with the birth of their only son in July of 1989. Elizabeth and Roger have made Jacksonville their home for the last 28 years.When Justin reached school age, Elizabeth, as most mothers are, was not quite ready to let him go. So, when school started she began volunteering at his school, Holiday Hill Elementary, for several years until someone noticed her love and devotion to what became her lifes work. Elizabeth believed she had found her true calling when she went to work at Holiday Hill Elementary full time. She truly loved her job and everyone that ever passed through its doors, both faculty and students.Elizabeth had two passions in her life, her family and Holiday Hill Elementary. She gave all she had to both and will be forever loved and missed.The memorial service for Elizabeth will be held on Saturday, June 2nd 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Holiday Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Byrd officiating. Reception and celebration of life luncheon to follow. Burial services will be held in London, Kentucky at a later date.Because of her love of children, in lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her honor to the Hope Starts Here Foundation, which helps families with children being treated at Wolfson Childrens Hospital.
