Obituary

Elizabeth Jean Stoltzfus a resident of Park of the Palms in Keystone Heights, Fl for the past 30 years passed away on July 11, 2010 at the age of 89. She was born in Union City, Indiana on February 1, 1921.She grew up in Boyertown, PA and then attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA where she majored in Home Economics and Dietetics. In June 1943, she married her high school sweetheart , Homer L. Stoltzfus Jr. Together they raised three sons and lived in various southeastern, PA, towns and cities, before finally settling in the suburban, Reading area of Temple, PA in 1957.While living in Reading, Jean attended Kutztown University and received her second bachelors degree in Elementary Education and began teaching in the Muhlenberg School District. She taught elementary school until she and Homer retired and moved to Fl in 1980.While living in Florida they traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motor home, and to their summer residence in North Carolina. They loved seeing the beauty, diversity, and scenery of America. They were also active in Trinity Baptist Church, both respectively teaching the adults mens and adults womens Sunday Bible Classes , and Homer serving on the Board of Deacons until he died on December 27, 1998. Since that time Jean remained involved in the activities at Park of the Palms retirement community. She is survived by her three sons,Dale of Plano, TX; Dean of Powder Springs, GA; and Lee of Monrovia, CA; as well as four grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Daniel, and Jenna.Services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 10:00 am at Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home in Keystone Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations ton Park of the Palms and the Wiley Manor Building Fund would honor Jeans desire to see this excellent assisted living facilty continue to flourish and provide outstanding care. These donations may be sent in memory of E. Jean Stoltzfus, Park of the Palms, 706 Palms Circle, Keystone Heights, Fl. 32656. Arrangements are under the care of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home 340 E.
