Elmer 'John' Rice, Jr.

Elmer "John" Rice Jr, 68, born in Benham, Kentucky, on April 22, 1951. Elmer was a long-time resident of Jacksonville, FL who passed into the arms of our Lord on Aug 22, 2019. Friends knew him as a kind and very caring person with a big heart that would help anyone that needed it. Elmer dearly loved his family, 2 legged and 4 legged and he loved to cook. He was a wonderful person who will be dearly missed.Elmer served in the Army in 1969-1972 and served in the Vietnam war for 10 months returning to Fort Bliss, Texas in Feb 1971 where he met his wife of 48 years, Linda Rice. They had 2 children Tina (deceased) and Christopher. Elmer worked for Bell South with 30 years of service and was a service technician upon his retirement. He was a proud member of Communications Workers of America, Local 3106. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents Elmer Rice Sr. and Beulah Rice and his daughter Tina Marie McQuaig. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his son, Christopher and his brother Kenneth and his sister Brenda Johnson (Ray). He also leaves behind 2 grandchildren Tyler and Christina, several cousins, nieces and nephews and many loving friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 7, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of George H.
