Elsbeth Johnson Geiger age 98, died on May 5, 2026. She was born in New Britain, Connecticut on March 5, 1928; she grew up in Holland, Michigan and graduated from Holland High School. She attended Rockford College in Illinois, then graduated from Michigan State University with a BA degree.

Elsbeth's parents, Marjorie and Elwood Johnson retired to Green Cove Springs, Florida, where she taught elementary school until marrying Neil Geiger, son of a Clay County pioneer family. Elsbeth and Neil lived for many years in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where they owned Ironmonger, Inc., an Architectural Hardware Distributor.

Elsbeth was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, D.A.R., on the board of the Council on Aging for Clay County, and the Green Cove Springs Methodist Church.

She and Neil spent many happy summers in Waynesville, NC. She was a 20 year resident of Penney Retirement Community, where she leaves many good friends. She enjoyed Line Dancing, and V.I.A. of Green Cove Springs. For many years she was an active member and officer of the Penney Farms Historical Society.

She is survived by her brother, Donald L. Johnson, and his three daughters, Kathryn Duncan, Susan Johnson, Brenda Ware (Russ), their daughters, Stephanie, Rebecca Haine (Nate), great nieces Olivia Casillas, Malia and Jace Haine. She is also survived by her daughter Lynn Scroggin (Jeff), grand children, John Scroggin, Julie Griffis (Daniel), Justin Scroggin (Brandi) and great grand children, Dawson and Maddie Griffis, Scarlett, Savanah, Collin, and Shelby Scroggin. Her son, Philip Neil Geiger,Jr. passed away January 6, 2026, leaving wife Elizabeth, and children Martin, and Helen Geiger.

A memorial service to honor Mrs. Geiger will be held at the Methodist Church, 500 Walnut Street, Green Cove Springs, Florida at 10 AM, Friday May 22, 2026.
