Emily Christine Massey

Mrs. Emily Christine Massey age 85, of Melrose passed away on Friday September 16, 2016 at Shands Hospital in Starke.She was born in Dott, West Virginia on October 24, 1930 to the late Yates and Elsie (Sigmon) Gray. Mrs. Massey has been a resident of Melrose for over 31 years; she was a homemaker and enjoyed reading but mostly being with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vernon Massey, Sr.; two sisters, Maude Davis and Gladys Greenwood and three brothers, Jim Gray, Bill Gray and Johnnie Gray. Mrs. Massey is survived by her two children, Betty Ellen Gray Dickens and Robert Vernon Massey, Jr. (Dara); her friend Jack Gray along with five siblings, Madeline Marshall, Patsy Price, Roy Gray (Maxine), Yates Gray (Kathleen) and Louis Gray. Also left behind are five grandchildren, Christine Gray Johnson, Jackie Gray, Kelby Gray, Maria Beth Massey and Erik Massey; three great grandchildren Kyle Johnson, Kaleb Johnson and Brycen Gray along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Massey will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. The family will begin receiving friends at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be private at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
